Why We're Here

We’re a global association of companies and individuals working to improve the environmental performance of shipping. That includes water treatment system providers, in-water cleaning companies, engineering firms, compliance tool manufacturers, testing organizations, component suppliers, and the many other service providers and professionals who have dedicated their careers to protecting our oceans from aquatic invasive species.

BEMA is the only international trade organization dedicated to the successful implementation of the 2004 IMO Ballast Water Management Convention, and one of the only NGOs representing this broad range of environmental technology providers.
